Hi Linda,
I assume you are asking about the chirping crickets. They are such an obnoxious pest especially with the chirping.
Our house is a prime place to get into because we are on a slab foundation and they can pretty much come in when the door is opened. The preventative measures you can do will help. What I have found to work well is the sticky traps put in key places. I have not used the molasses in water or the diatomaceous earth but plan to this year when they come out in Aug. We also have a company come out and spray the outside. Here is a link on what you can do:

Here's a few tips. We sprayed a pesticide around the perimeter of our house. I am not big on using pesticides but we had so many crickets getting into the basement I couldn't stand it!

You could use sticky traps. They should be safe if you have pets.

If you want a more natural solution, we have chickens and they eat a lot of the bugs in the yard, preventing them from coming inside.
Diatomaceous earth sprinkled around should do the trick. It is still effective if it gets wet. It gets rid of anything with an exoskeleton.

You can use those crickets as bait when you go fishing. If you know anybody that goes fishing, I am sure that they would love to receive them.
Crickets are good luck. Chirping doesn't bother me. However I do use vinegar on the perimeter of the property and base of my house once a month. It does help. Also good to repel fleas and ticks. Be careful, vinegar can kill plants and make paint peel over time, so be sure to spray directly onto the ground. Visiting children and house full of pets, so no chemicals here.
I use the sticky backed traps you can get at the hardware store or on amazon https://amzn.to/2ysScSv
