How do I repair a love.seat ?

My cloth love seat fabric keeps tearing away from the back support. U can see the wood frame n metal springs. Hubby tried sewing n staple gun. It continues to get larger. We don’t want to toss it has a very useful pull out bed.
I’d appreciate any ideas. Ty
It looks like the back is under stuffed and not rigid enough to stay in place. I would stuff it with either foam or fiberfill to make it more stiff. Then sew or staple it in place.
What is happening that makes it pull away, it is not usual for this to happen, is something sliding down it to cause this?
Could you cover it with a slipcover? If you did, you could reinforce the cushions where you couldn't see, and the cover could come off to use the bed. Honestly, I 'm not sure reupholstering would be worthwhile, but, if you're really attached to it, it might be worth looking into. Good luck and stay safe!
The force and gravity that pulls automatically on the loose cushion when a body sits down in front of it, is stronger than the hardware/method used to attach the cushion cover to the sofa back.
Unfortunately the cushion filling was shortchanged of being entirely covered during construction which further weakens it. Trying to patch over where the fabric is missing and pulling apart will be ineffective.
I second Williams suggestion to purchase new filling that is stiffer and has more structure. I would advise to purchase one piece of solid foam instead of loose stuffing. Using this old cover as a pattern, sew a new cover for it. Then attach to the backing with self- sticking velcro.
Simpliest solution would seem to be a slipcover. You can take it off and throw it in the washer when it is dirty. Also change the look by getting a new slip cover. That is much cheaper then a new love seat.
I used fusible iron on web tape to repair furniture tears on well loved pieces. I redid this chair long ago and it's still holding up. Perhaps it could work for you.

Sounds as if the fabric is not allowing you to sit and then move forward without changing seating position - fabric has no give! You would need to add fabric to the back line seam so that when you push forward on the seat you have the fabric to do so. When you get up again, push it back in place. Best wishes.
Once the fabric starts tearing it’s really tough to stop it for long. What about a slipcover. Surefit makes some adaptable ones that fit in different sized of couches.
You could just buy a couch cover or reupholster the sofa.
