Basicsally I have had this bungee chair forever, but I am redoing my room and don't exactly want to get rid of it, but I don't like the color anymore. What are some ideas on how to paint or dye it? What should I use? Thanks!

This is an example of the kind of chair it is.

Hi Kaylalala. I like the idea of using stencils. Since the chair is in your bedroom, I suggest using soft pastel colors. Good luck Kaylalala. Stay well and healthy.

Hi this is Peggy. I found a question similar to yours answered by our great tem of hometalkers. I hope this helps you. Stay well. I agree, paint will just crack and peel off a stretchy cord like bungee cords..... I would use Rit Dye in the spray bottle technique.... no need to take cords off..... https://www.ritdye.com/techniques/tie-dye/squirt-bottle-technique/ they have a new formula for synthetics called Dye More

Hi! These are great suggestions, but, just to be different, how about something like this?

Use a fabric spray paint. Do you know what kind of fabric it is? They even have outdoor fabric spray paints for a heavy duty use. Here is a good brand to use :

This spray paint is very good, I even used it on faux leather. Check out my post:

Did you try fabric dye. Take outside and test an area underneath the seat. Paint will not adhere well since the bungee material must stretch. If it is a poly blend the dye won't take well but worth a try. Mix a batch of Rit dye and try to paint on a small spot under the seat to see it it works.

Hi Kaylalala: To use the fabric medium, you simply mix 1 part fabric medium with 2 parts acrylic paint. The fabric medium is a liquid that mixes easily with the paint and thins it out a bit. It does not dilute the color of the paint as far as I could tell. Wash and dry your fabric prior to painting if possible, then paint away. Don't forget the fabric medium! A lot of people forget it and are sorry :( Also, don't put on too thick of a coat as it won't dry correctly and will be - well, ugly :) Good luck
