How to clean carpeted stairs?

Hello Tom! What have you tried so far? You must have a black lab! If you just LOOK at a black lab they shed! I would first vacuum, vacuum, vacuum using the small upholstery brush. You could go over the stairs with a very stiff hand scrubbing brush to see if you can loosen any more and then vacuum again. You could then try pulling out more hair by using a extra strong pet hair lint remover. Finally use a carpet cleaner and the upholstery attachment.

Have you tried a thin vacuumed attachment if not good use a small broom by hand and a dust pan

Tom: what might actually work well is one of those old-fashioned back scratchers... to "scrape" out the hair... and then just vacuum it up!

also using a stiff whisk broom will get the hair out of those hard to get places and I have used a fork as well! I had cats for many years and their fur gets everywhere! So I took a big serving fork and gently pulled it out of the carpet on my stairs

Try a stiff brush or wisp broom to clean our corners. Should pull out so you can then vacuum

Hi Tom, I feel your pain. We have an beautiful German Sheppard that sheds all over the place. We use duct tape to lift the hairs from the carpet. It's pretty cheap and picks up all her fine hair and and little sand grains that tend to get stuck there too. It also lifts the pile of the carpet

Does you vacuum have a crevice tool? If so, that works great, otherwise you can use a skewer, or fork to scrape along the area and then vacuum as usual.

Have you tried using a Damp mop or broom & Lightly Sweep Your Carpet Before You Vacuum.

OR Use a Damp Sponge or Rubber Gloves

Have you tried a rubber brush. I used to have one that was amazing when we had cats. It got up hair that no vacuum would lift.

I had a long haired black cat and a black lab at different times. For daily cleaning, I used a damp microfiber cloth. If it was really bad, I used the upholstery attachment for my rug shampooer. It sucked so much out it looked like I was growing another animal! I found it worked well along the baseboards and corners, too. Good luck and stay safe!

I don't have a rug shampooer.

You didn't mention what type of carpeting you have. You may need to look up cleaning methods for your particular type of carpet, online.
