John: maybe this will help

Try rubbing (gently) with white vinegar.
Hi John, this article should help - https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/home/cleaning/tips/a17150/stains-iron-scorch-may07/
If you need to wear or use the item immediately and the scorch marks are slight, lightly rub white distilled vinegar on the fabric. Wipe with a clean cloth. Heavily scorched fabrics where the fibers are burned and damaged can't be returned to their original state. Nor can melted or shiny areas.
If the scorch mark is fresh, soak it immediately in cold water for at least 24 hours. Often, this will remove the marks. If not, continue with the next step.
Wet the scorch mark with hydrogen peroxide. Remember to spot test first. Peroxide may fade some fabrics and/or colors.
Wet the clean white cloth with peroxide, then place it over the scorched fabric.
Iron lightly.
Repeat, keeping the cloth moist with peroxide, until the stain is gone or until you no longer see improvement.
It depends on what the fibre content of the material is. As others above have noted, hydrogen peroxide can remove the color from some fabrics and may also cause a circular stain on other fabrics.
Where is the fabric located? Is it a clothing item, table cloth, etc.?
Do you know what has caused the scorch? Was it simply because the heat setting on the iron was too high for the fibre content of the fabric, or was the bottom of the iron stained or dirty?
If the latter, the iron may need to be cleaned out before using again, to remove the sediments sitting in the water reservoir and in the steam vents.

All good answers. I would convert the shirt or whatever to be a "work" shirt. After I get grease or paint on it, the scorch marks won't be noticeable.
Hello John,
You may be able to buy Dirt devil from the supermarket to help with this problem, as they seam to have many different removal items.
