Hi Nancy, I would experiment maybe on the underside of the chair. I bet a regular wood stain would work fine. You can grab really small cans of stain to get the look you're going for. Afterward I would purchase an outdoor spray on polyurethane to cover them both and help protect them.

As the picture showed, There is dark stain within the rattan and lighter on the top. I wanted to try and create the same on the woven resin chair.
