Upcycled Bird Feeder
I had the idea for this upcycle project last year but finally got around to making it this month. I had this old candle votive holder sitting in a closet or donation boxes for years but just couldn't seem to give it away just yet. I liked it enough to know that even though I didn't use it as a candle holder anymore, it was a good candidate for a makeover.
Remember PartyLite home parties that used to be very popular 10 years ago or more. That is where I ordered this wall mounted candle holder so long ago I don't even remember. I haven't used it in year and in fact pulled it out of the donation boxes, twice, because I really could see making it in to something else.
This candle holder comes apart and can actually be hung either vertical or horizontal. The metal votive holders slide in and out of special slots in the back of the frame.
To give the candle holder a fresh new look for the garden, I applied 3 coats of Rust-oleum Spray Paint in Sun Yellow. I waited an hour between each coat. The final coat was a thick layer of Rust-oleum Triple Thick High Gloss Glaze to seal the project from the weather.
I found this pack of four small bowls at Dollar Tree that fit perfectly in the ring of the candle holder. To attach the bowls, I applied a thin layer of E6000 glue to the inside of the ring and fit the bottom of the bowl snugly inside the ring.
I let the glue dry overnight before hanging the bird feeder outside.
I hung the upcycled candle holder on one of our backyard fences and slid the candle holders now converted to small bird feeders into the slots in the back.
Since the bowl holders are removable, I can easily clean or fill the bowls back up as needed.
It didn't take long for the birds to find them and enjoy. Hopefully I can capture of picture of the birds feeding soon.

But, I do have a question. You say you've glued the bowls in,but then you say they are removable. Im a little confused. Please clarify. Cheers. 😀
