Since you may not be able to visit your local pond store for the info, I'd look to you tube for video tutorials on building small pond waterfalls. I find them quite helpful. You may have to watch a dozen or so. Good luck. I always like water features.

Lowes and Home Depot sell pond equipment from pumps to pools. It's in the garden section.

I recommend you call a few pond supply stores to ask your question. Be prepared to tell them approximately how much water (measure L x W x Depth) and the distance for the waterfall to drop. I think the pump will have to be sized properly especially as you need to pump it back up the distance of the drop. ♒😎
