How can I change a high trundle bed into a lower twin bed?

A trundle bed is usually a low bed on wheels that can be pulled out when extra bedding is needed. They are usually stored a reg. bed. Even looked up the definition to be sure and A trundle bed (or truckle bed) is a low, wheeled bed that is stored under a normal bed and can be rolled out for use by visitors or as just another bed. A pop-up trundle bed can be raised to meet the height of the normal bed, effectively creating a wider sleeping surface when positioned side-by-side.

You can cut the legs down. They should be cut evenly though. If you’re not able to do so perhaps you have a family member or friend that can do it if you can’t. If the bed is on carpet you’ll have some free play, but if it’s on tile or hardwood/laminate flooring having the legs even will be more critical so it won’t rock.

Could you sleep on the pull out part? If it's wood you could trim the legs but you can't make it lower and keep the extra mattress underneath.

Have a friend or neighbor cut down the legs.

Hi. The only way to lower the main part of the bed would be to trim the same amount off of each leg that touches the floor on the headboard and footboard. By trimming those, it would lower the bed. Alternatively, if the trundle part of the bed is comfortable, you would explore raising it up to the correct height which may be easier than lowering the other half of the bed.

My hubby put the box springs and mattress directly on the floor. Believe it or not it was for our dog. He didn't want her to hurt herself jumping in or out of bed. You could keep your headboard and foot board in your garage or storage until needed.

Hello Rp, is this mad of wood? If so just have someone cut down the leg height for you if it is metal you can find someone to cut metal too. You will need to trim the headboard and foodboard as well.

I don’t think so the metal fram is what supports the bed and it would need to be cut maybe could you remove the wheels that might help some

Get the Legs cut down to suit you. You would need to use an Angle Grinder. NB Be sure to measure all legs carefully before cutting, and wear the appropriate protective gear!

Do you have a church community or family or friends who has some tools and some time to help you cut the legs down?

Borrowing an angle grinder, maybe having to buy a cut-off wheel and cutting down steel legs is laborious, dirty and noisy job. I would get help.
