Vintage Style Lazy Susan Makeover

Turn a cheap plastic lazy Susan into a vintage inspired work of art for your kitchen!

It started with thinking about those cute little wooden stools I keep seeing pop up everywhere. Then the continued search to find a way to clean up our countertops because even though they are pretty bare, they still looked cluttered to me. Then suddenly an idea popped into my head that morphed into a quick and inexpensive DIY project when I couldn't find what I was looking for online. And that is how this Lazy Susan makeover was born!

I purchased this cheap lazy Susan from Amazon for less than $10.

Made sure it fit my stove-side essentials, and then began the transformation.

Paint It Black

First I completely covered the lazy susan in the matte black spray paint, starting with the underside spraying one light coat, then rotating the wheel and spraying a second white coat to cover all of the areas. Then I flipped it over and sprayed two light coats on the top.

It will seem shiny when you first spray it on (above), but when it dries it will be matte (below).

Make sure to turn the wheel and spray another coat to hit the previously covered areas.

Tape and Antique

Next I taped just under the lip of the top side of the lazy susan, then used my finger to apply the Rub 'n Buff to my desired covering. You can apply less or more to adjust the distressed look. Then use a lint free cloth to buff it out. Remove the tape once applied.

Allow to Dry and Enjoy!

You've created a vintage style piece for mere dollars! Enjoy your collected style and decluttered countertops!

Total cost if you are buying all new materials is just shy of $25, however I had all of the materials on hand except the lazy Susan itself so this project cost me less than $10. You don't have to use exactly what I did, feel free to get creative with the paints you have on hand to create your own unique piece!
