A while back when I was transforming our guest room into a playroom / guest room, I realized that there wasn’t a ton of floor space. Nightstands are important and in my opinion, essential. I mean, where else will your guests put their water, books, or phone chargers. So I had to problem solve.

I came up with these super easy wall mounted nightstands with attached sconces.

I used a piece a plywood to create the back and bottom of the nightstands.

The measurements I used for the project were as follows:

Bottom shelf: 10”wide by 12” deep

Back support: 10” by 24” high

I love staining with pre-moistened stain wipes. They’re so easy and mess free.

I picked up two plug-in sconces from Ikea. If you don’t want the cord to show, you could easily cut it off and use the magic light trick. Screw in a piece of PVC and super glue a puck light to it. It can then be turned on and off with a remote.

I drilled a small hole at the bottom for the cord to fit between the back piece and the bottom.

The sconces were super easy to install onto the piece of plywood.

They turned out exactly how I imagined.

I hope you loved this tutorial and try making these nightstands.

Happy DIY’ing
