How do I make the slats for bed?

hi everybody. Hope all is well with you n yours. ok so i made a frame for a bed swing kinda thing. I know right what am I thinking!? Anyhoo, I made the frame for the bed but I need to put slats in that frame n not sure what size they need to be. No boxspring for this. Just bed part. I have been trying the other things you all have helped me with n didnt come out cute like u all have made.
I will keep trying. I have scraps of cloth could I make a gnome w it? Or? Thanks u guys. Stay well. Thanks again, K

When I was growing up my parents had a bed with slats in it. Occasionally one would fall out. These were just 1x4 pieces of wood resting in ledges of the sideboards. Almost anything could be used for slats depending on the size of your bed.
You might use a small screw at the end just to keep the slats from moving around. If this is a swing you don’t want slats falling out and someone possibly falling through.
The most support would be a piece of 5/8 or 1/2 inch plywood.

Hi Katie. Slats are usually wood pieces that help hold the weight of a box springs and mattress. They fit in the sides of the bed frame. Since you have already made the frame, I would put a piece of plywood over it to support the weight of your bed swing. Good luck Katie. Wishing you well.
Just use 3/4" solid plywood. No need to make slats. If very large you may need to add a center support or two going cross the short way.
Without a box spring you would need solid support and not slats. 1/2" plywood would work

gnome out of fabric, unless it is to be doll like soft toy, using polyester stuffing material inside the body. What had you in mind?
I have used 1 x 4 boards as slats across the width of the bed. You will need a support strip to hold the slats. Without a box frame, you will need more slats. An alternative is to put in slats and cut plywood to act as a platform under your mattress.
