Supplies

For this project, you will need:

(not all supplies shown in photo)

  • 1x6x8 boards (x2)
  • 1x3x8 boards (x2)
  • 24" windowsill planter boxes (x3)
  • Brad nailer/screw driver
  • Wood screws

*Measure your plastic planter box inserts to determine the box sizes as these could be slightly different than mine

Cuts

Wood cuts:

  • 1x6x8's: cut 6 @ 25 1/2" (box front and backs)
  • 1x6x8's: cut 6 @ 6 1/2" (box sides)
  • 1x3x8's: cut 2 @ 24" (back legs)
  • 1x3x8's: cut 2 @ 31" at 45 degree angles (side legs)
  • 1x3x8's: cut 2 @ 20" (side reinforcements)
Make the boxes

Assemble the boxes with the cut 1x6's.

(I accidentally measured the front/backs wrong, so they don't overlap the side pieces. The measurements have been adjusted to the correct length in the "cuts" list)

Boxes

The plastic inserts should sit just on top of the wood boxes without falling through.

Assemble the legs

Attach the back legs to the wood box that will be on the top.

I then wedged the legs between some other lumber to hold them up so I could attach the side legs.

I used brad nails for this, but you can also use wood screws if your planter will be heavier.

Attach the boxes & reinforce

Place your boxes in the desired spot along the legs and screw into place. Attach the 20" 1x3's along the insides of the legs for reinforcement.

Enjoy!

Pop in your plastic boxes, fill up, and enjoy!

Leave it, stain it, or paint it! *Seal the wood if this is going to stay in a spot that gets rained on.
