How to choose the right paint for bedroom set ?
I painted my bedroom a medium to light gray, white woodwork, light gray rug. Comforter set is a Blush and cream. Thinking of old lace curtains and adding another color for accent. Want to keep it very feminine and soft. I have an older maple Bedroom set that either needs refinished or painted. Leaning more towards painting a white or cream color with stained top. Should I just use a Semi gloss latex then put a polyurethane finish on it. I don’t want it to turn yellow.

Your choice of sheen on the paint. I always love the mix of paint and wood. Painting the cases and staining the top always looks good. Some people even stain the drawer fronts rather than paint them. Use three coats of a water based polyurethane. Dries clear and does not yellow. Oil based has a yellow cast to it and does yellow over time.
If you use latex paint you shouldn’t need to polyurethane on top. One less step! :)
Latex paint does not require a sealer. If you stain the top, seal that with polyurethane or polycrylic.
You will want to use a water based poly finish so that it doesn't yellow.
Another technique/possibility is to sand to dull the finish, then use a chalk paint, sand lightly and finish with a wax. It works especially well on wood furniture pieces.
Do chalk paint, that would look lovely.
I would use a polycrylic so that it doesn't yellow. You could also use chalk paint and wax
I would use as good paint that has primer in it.
The only paint that needs sealers is chalk paint. I don't know why everyone keeps telling people to add urethane top coats. Paint is its own sealer. Can you imagine what it would cost to add sealers to your house paint job?
The poly may turn it yellow (at least in my experience.) I painted a twin bed set with latex and distressed it - no top coat and it's been great!
I agree that using chalk paint and wax (that's made for topping chalk paint) would be a good fix.

Or, you could try painting the furniture with milk paint from General Finishes. I used their milk paint on my kitchen cabinets, and it is quite durable! If you are looking for a less expensive, more also durable chalk paint to use, you can use Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint. I used that paint on an old oak chest of drawers (for jewelry), and love how it turned out. The paint can be purchased on Amazon, at Walmart, etc. This shows my project: https://momhomeguide.com/chalk-painted-jewelry-chest/
You'll need to prep the furniture first, probably a sanding then a primer. If you seal the paint with a (water based so it won't yellow) polyurethane, the paint finish is moot so choose the finish in the poly.
Hey Susann, I would go for a warm grey on it, you don't have to worry about yellowing with the grey like you would with a white, I have attached a pic of a grey toned bedroom
