Can you plant mandevillas in the ground?

I just bought a mandevilla plant and would like it to grow into a vine on my wooden frame around my swing outside. can I just plant it in the ground?

You might try planting one on each side and let them grow to the middle.

Can Mandevilla be planted in the ground?
Mandevillas are native to South America and therefore require temperatures of at least 68°F (20°C) to thrive. When growing directly in the ground, temperatures must be high in both summer and winter and planting is done in spring. Mandevilla planted directly in the ground copes well with direct sunlight. depending what climate are you in ...they like warm temps
My neighbor has tried both and in our climate they do best in pots. Also, they won't come back every year here, due to the harsh winters, so she'd be replanting every year. I would inquire at a local nursery though, they'd know your area best.
I lived in warm LA & could never get mine to live in the ground.
I would find out what kind of soil they need. I think mine was too alkaline for them.
