Has anyone created things with empty large coffee cans/containers?
Last year some group was looking for empty ones to make something for the animal shelter. I do not know what they made but have a few on hand now and would also like to try to re-use them. Some are the plain round cans, some are the Maxwell House or Folgers type with a slight handle. Would love some suggestions. Thanks.

Here's a garden bucket that was made with a container with a plastic lid; it could easily work with a large coffee can with a lid as well. https://thekitchengarten.com/diy-garden-twine-bucket/

Hi Tricia, great minds....here's some ideas for reusing cofee cans and scroll through the ideas to see reuses of the PLASTIC coffee containers too. I especially like the one where they use it for portions of popcorn...handle included! See if any of these ideas inspire you.. Have fun.

Spray paint them bright colors and drill a few holes in the bottom for drainage and use in yard or porch for plain planters. When they rust, no loss, pitch them and make new ones for next season.

Ticia: Your local senior citizens center may want them for crafts. (Ours uses them for holding watercolor painting water!)
I often use them for holding paint when I need a small amount, for the gunk from stripping furniture. The coffee containers with lids are great for sorting and storing craft supplies. My husband drains oil and grease into one kept by the stove. If I don't have a use for one, I recycle them. Good luck and stay safe!
The ones with the slight handle I use for kitchen vege/fruit scraps for composting, just cover with the lid. Very convenient and not smelly. Also if you prefer line it with a grocery store plastic bag.
They can also be used for plants, drill water holes in the bottom.
For the metal ones, you could put the plastic lid on the bottom so it won't rust on which ever surface it is placed on.
I get the Folgers handled ones from my neighbor to go blackberry picking, and then I make pies. 2 -3 containers, and I make 2 pies - one for my neighbor and 1 for me, and an extra container for blackberries on cereal in the morning.
