Painting a outdoor birdbath?

Indoor latex paint will probably not work because of the moisture. It will eventually peel and bubble. This article suggests using an oil based exterior paint. You should be able to purchase a quart of this paint rather than a gallon.

Indoor paint unfortunately is not going to last in an outdoor or wet condition. You can get paints specially tinted in smaller quantities at a specialty paint store or your local home improvement store. You'll need to find an appropriate sealer for the material and outdoor use; polyurethane won't last.

You can use acrylic craft paint from Michaels or Hobby Lobby. Seal it with three coats of a water based polyurethane. Dries clear and does not yellow over time. You can also use Rustoleum clear spray paint. Several light coats will give you a smooth finish

You should be able to use acrylic craft paint and seal it with a couple of layers of clear coat ! Post your project !!! 😊

Maybe a qt of white concrete paint divided and tinted with artist colors.

Hi Susan, I think you are correct! Any paint you use will be protected/sealed by the polyurethane.

Susan that is beautiful. You have motivated me to clean up and repaint our old birdbath. It was actually my grandparents and is over 60 years old and not nearly a pretty as Susan's.
