HOW TO KILL ANTS IN YARD?

Here in North Carolina we have ants. Yes, everyone does, but these ants are everywhere on the lawn. We have a sidewalk in the back, and you can walk out side and all of a sudden there will be a colony sometimes 2 feet long along the edge, continuing into the grass. Small black ants. Millions of them. I can look across the yard and see the rise of small ant hills, but they are not hills per se, they are just raised areas. We have a mini dachshund and I want something that we can use to go over The whole lawn and not worry about hurting him when he walks out later. Any ideas??

I buy the ant killer from Walmart. i pour some on the ant mound and then i dust the whole yard with it. It keeps the ants down for months. Works better right before it rains so that it will get washed into the soil or use your sprinkler.I

I highly recommend Terro brand products. I get about a bazillion ants here in the spring and have found it to be the best.

My chickens are great for taking care of bugs in the yard, including ants. If you have the ability to keep a couple of chickens, you can get eggs (bonus!) and keep your yard free of pests.

Hi, the best way to get rid of ants is with a chemical type killer. Lots of people dont like to use it, But it does work. Perhaps hire a pest exterminator to help out. Heres a link to a product that will help if you want to go that way. https://www.amazon.ca/TERRO-Killer-Liquid-Baits-T300CAN/dp/B014H8NZ7U

  • I use packaged cornbread mix that says it is sweetened and put it where they are. They will take it to the mound, everyone will eat it and die, they can't digest the cornmeal, but will take it because it is sweetened. Little goes a long way.

I read this from : Itsmemic

Medicated powder from the Dollar Tree. It has eucalyptus in it...menthol...I puff it around my homes foundation..and inside under my birdcages in the cracks under moldings. Work immediately and they never come back. I do this at the first sign of ants..in one day..GONE. The powder is in a very large container and lasts quite awhile too !! And smells great !

Not toxic to my birds OR dog

I use diatomaceous earth. They take it home with them and it kills the nest. I use the product pictured in my kitchen. Good luck and stay safe!

we hired a pest control service to come quarterly. I am in SC and have very sandy soil - the ants take over without it.

Over the years I have used Terro from the diy stores, just follow the package directions, they are gone in a couple of days. We put in into their parades and they can't get enough.

We have also used the Jiffy cornmeal packaged mix, do nothing but sprinkle it from the package, they take it back to the colony and it destroys the workers, but not the queen(s). To get rid of the queen, use boiling water, a tea kettle works best.

Hello. I highly recommend the commercial products made by Terro. If you look over at the reviews and QA on Amazon and see how highly rated the traps are.

I have been using them both indoors and outdoors - and been very successful in my overall situation. Additionally- I sometimes do an exterior Home defense foundation perimeter type product as well for spiders. Hope this helps.

Sprinkle Sevin granules on them and then dampen. They will be dead in minutes. You can also "mix" them and they will kill each other.
