Ac unit won’t turn on.

So last night I saw that my breakers for ac unit and hvac where melted so replaced them and had to replace a fuse in furnace and that got furnace to turn in and run but the ac unit doesn’t appear to turn on it’s not cooling obviously. So just tryin to figure out what the issue could be. I haven’t looked at ac unit yet ( I’m in a wheelchair so kinda hard) but will tommorow and get model but I’m guessing something internal with ac unit is messed up if not the whole thing. Any input would be great

I wouldn't feel comfortable until I had a pro come in and check things out. There had to be a reason the breakers melted in the first place.
Agreed, the shorted circuit may have destroyed the control board within the AC unit.

Call a pro. This isn't a DIY unfortunately.
Call your HVAC contractor to check out the system. We have them do it twice a year. The original breaker problem indicates that there is major repair or replacement required.
This is just FYI and not to repair. Check if the fan in the AC unit is running. That runs off 120V. The compressor runs off 220V. If the fan is running then the AC unit is shot. If the fan is not running then it may be just a contactor. Call a pro. This is not a DIY.
Thanks everyone goin to get someone out ASAP . As far as I can tell the fan isn’t running on ac unit. But I think you all may be right about it destroying the unit I’ll update you when I find out
I would just call someone and then they can do all of the cleaning, etc. which will prevent any other mishaps in the future.

Ok so I talked to my uncle he does hvac he goin to come out but he said to check the black box forgot what he called it inside the unit make sure I have 220 there and in breaker. He said if not it most likely that box . And a cheap fix but if good with electric I could do it myself and I am but I’m goin to have him go over everything just Incase . He doesn’t like to replace things hoping to fix he rather check and be sure. Thanks everyone hopfully that’s it and I’ll have ac soon

again he thinks it’s the contractor I’ll check voltage and he also said there a point I can push with pencil or something and if that’s the issue the unit will turn on once pressed then off after I let go so hopefully that’s it because I can’t afford this let alone a new u it.. ( being young broke and disabled smh)
Be very careful checking the voltage. Your dealing with 220V at the contactor. On the contactor there is a push button. Do not use anything metal to push it. Only push it for a second or two. If the unit turns on then the contactor is bad.
Ok so an update ... I checked voltage starting from scratch unit all the way to breaker. So I wasn’t getting 24 volts to the wires from furnace that go out side but every other wire was fine. So my hvac guy talked me through everything so he after a million things I put a jumper from r and y because y and c wasn’t getting 24 and long story short my ecobee right now is bad it’s not communicating with ac . So the jumper right now atleast works but will just run as it’s bypassing the ecobee so it runs constant and have to turn off furnace manually until I get new t stat . But he is still going to come out to clean and just look over everything as something caused the issue and probably not the ecobee. But everything works no problem with a new T stat .
Ecobee is in process of sending a replacement. Thanks everyone for all the help . You guys have been great and extremely helpful. And it feels very rewording fixing it kinda myself but mostly happy I can turn my ac on when really needed until I get a new permanent t stat
Most likely, along with the rest of the parts, the fuse of your air conditioner failed. I would advise you to call the service center where you bought your air conditioner. If your contract provides for such a service, then this will not be a problem. It is more problematic if this service is not available and you will have to look for another way to solve the problem.
The company in which I bought my air conditioner has excellent service and if something goes wrong, they very quickly come and fix the floor or malfunction.
