How can I upcycle a rubber welcome door mat?
You can hang it on the exterior, you might want to paint it.
Karen: maybe this will help
I had wanted to use a spray paint on the mat but I'm afraid it might be tracked into the house. Because when I spray painted a milk crate it was coming off on my hands. Even a year later. I used to Silver Rust-Oleum. Thank you for your input I will check it out.
You could try putting a layer of fabric over it or using it as the base for a rug that you've made.
Thank you for your input. I'm planning on using it as an outdoor welcome mat as it was intended for.
Here's a video that might help - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emaoisp-wv8
Hi Karen, paint them, hope this link gives you some cool ideas,
Turn it into concrete stepping stones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfCOgEGEK3w
Doormats are commonly transformed with paint and stencils.
Doormats could be customized to each person’s decor aesthetic, Even their sense of humor.
You could fix it to an outside wall or signpost or only the part that says WELCOME!
Without seeing it it is difficult to give any other ideas.......
Thank you for your input. I will try to post a picture. I'm not sure if it's going to show up on the site or not.
Karen try adding your photo at the top of your question. It's easy using the three dots, click and you will have the edit option. Makes it easier for those offering help to see and know if they have advice.
I put mine in the garden to block weeds. You can put some mulch over it to hide it.
Karen, I'm having the same problem with my front rubber door mat. The decorative colors have worn off with virtually no traffic on it in less than a year. I have scrapped off the remaining paint (?).with a wire brush. It is now all black and like you wondering what to do next.
I finally did this with my worn out mat and posted the project here on Home talk
