How to make a decorative wooden mirror mount for an antique vanity?

I have a waterfall vanity with a decorative rectangular mirror and I've lost the mirror mounts. I have pieces coming from Van Dyke's Restorers and need to turn the pieces into mirror mounts that securely hold the mirror in place. Please Help!!

Hi Quincy, I was looking over some old vanity pictures, I think if you are able to mostly match the color on the wood and put a bit of decor on it you could make it look good, even if you were to pick up small spindles and lay them on a belt sander to flatten one side, would be a great look.
I have had a dresser in the past with no mirror or attachment to mount it, so I mounted my to the wall behind the dresser. If that helps any.
A picture would be so helpful, can you mount the back of the mirror to the back of the vanity? That way the mounts would be out of sight.
Hi Quincy, Can you find a similar one and then copy how they were built? Or is it possible to hang it directly on the wall behind the dresser? If you want it to swivel, you will most likely need to build up the the sides with long pieces of wood attached the back of the dresser and then attach your mounts to that.
Many of the old vanities merely had a piece of wood that screwed to the back of the mirror and screwed into the back of the vanity. Stain them if you like but no one will see them. You could also check local thrift shops if what you have is the kind that attach to the sides of the mirror and find a similar replacement. The back two strips of wood should work though.
You might check with a hardware store. Our local Ace hardware has mounts and all kinds of parts that are hard to find for items that are from many years back. We found some replacement parts for a sliding door from the 1950's at ours.
Are the mounts on the back because the mounts that are on the antique dresser I have are posts that are used for wire fencing you screw the bars in to the mirror and the back of the dresser use 2
My antique dresser had a cleat type connector. Do you have pictures?

You could just use 2 by. 4 s or by 3 s and pre drill holes so they are in the wood and just use that because you won’t see them
