I use mine for gardening like weeding, carrying tools out, mixing up dirt and grass seed to reseed bare spots, store various fertilizers, grass seed etc in the garage which can be damp, and lastly for hauling water to friends/clients, and having a back-up water supply for those of us on a pump system. I also wind up my 50 ft electrical cords in them. I also put my dirty litter clumps in doggy bags and store in a bucket until trash day,,,, and then my garbage man empties them in the truck and leaves the buckets.

Hi Bev: Depends on the type. If they are the ones with the screw on caps, I fill them with water from my dehumidifier and when they are full, I water my plants with them:) If they are the square ones with the tops that just flip on and off, I use them for storage, cat toys, kid toys, odd tools, cleaning supplies, etc. Good luck
