With July 4th coming up, I decided I needed some neutral farmhouse style patriotic decor for my home. These are some of the ones I made using materials I already had on hand.

What I used

I used sections of 4x4 posts we had out in the barn. I cut them to different heights. My tallest is 12" and shortest is 6".

Painting

Since I wanted mine neutral I went with white paint for each faux firecracker but you could get totally creative with these!

Rope for the "spark"
Adding the faux spark

I drilled a small hole in top of each one and hot glued a small section of rope into it to create the "spark".

Adding small touches

I stenciled a small star at the top of each one. I then sanded the edges a bit to distress them. They still needed something so I added a strip of torn fabric around each one.

The finished product

I love how these turned out and they are patriotic but still go with my farmhouse/cottage style decor. Hope this inspires you in some small way to use inexpensive items to create home decor you can use year after year.
