Hi there, any roof will have rafters of some kind, those you can affix a light or ceiling fan to.

There needs to be framing under the roof with at least 2x4s. You can work from there.

Is it a hardwired fan? We added a corded fan to our screened porch and added a LARGE eye hook to the ceiling and hung it from that!

What is the issue? Are you looking for a way to hang a fan? If so, you can go with a drop down fan. Install the base as you would any light fixture.

Hi Dasari, when you say how to fix it, do you mean inside, outside, or is it leaking. If you simply want to decorate the ceiling inside, you could use spray adhesive and apply some decorative, colorful cloth to the ceiling to make it unique. Hope you can provide more info so we can help you.

I think the poster means "afix". You must be certain there are supports to hold the fan. Usually, tgere are cross arms in the celing above. You cannot just hang a fan. They are heavy. They must be horizontal and balanced to work properly. Since I dont know how to do this, recommend looking at Youtube.

Will your shed roof framing hold the weight and the torque (oscillating motion) of a ceiling fan?

How are you safely bringing electricity to a metal shed from its source? Is it on an exterior-grade Safety Breaker box?

One can’t run an extension cord to the shed and cut off the end to wire-up a fan. That’s illegal because it’s extremely dangerous for many reasons.

You need to hire a licensed electrician.

Are you trying to make this shed into a house?

You could screw up 2 by 4s We’re you want it to go and then attach like it was a regular ceiling.

Do you have electricity to the shed? Do you have rafters that are strong enough to support the weight? If you do, you can use a ceiling joist to attach it. Is the shed climate controlled? My son-in-law found out the humidity and temperature fluctuations will destroy fan blades that are not intended for outside areas. After a couple of years, the blades started drooping and didn't work well, even though it's a covered patio. I found out they made replacement blades for porch fans and it helped him use the fan again with the new blades. Good luck and stay safe!

  • Mine is attached to one of the beams on a slight angle. It has worked perfectly for years.

    Hello,

Better to have a Stand a Lone Fan in this case I think!
