Black Flag Flea and Tick YARD Treatment.
This is safe for children and pets once the product has dried on any grassy areas and vegetation.
Fleas like moisture and shade. Keeping your grass and shrubs cut short allows sunlight to light things up and dry them out. Get rid of any clippings, leaves, and straw lying around outside, too. Bifenthrin is commonly used to kill deer ticks. Like permethrin, it’s lethal to fish, though runoff is limited because the chemical binds well to soil.

Hi Ron: A mixture of water and Dawn dish soap should work. Maybe 2 tablespoons of Dawn to a gallon of water. Environmentally safe and works for me :) You can even wash your pet in Dawn. Wet the pet down, suds up with Dawn, avoiding the head, but starting at the neck as close to th head as you can get so you don't get soap in your pets eyes. You can use your hand to rub the suds on the muzzle and top of the head, but be careful of the eyes. Then, let the suds sit for about 5 minutes, rubbing the pet to keep the suds going and to calm your pet, and then rinse well, again, being careful not to get suds in the eyes. When completely rinsed, towel off and put your pet on a large white or light coloured towel and blow dry. You will see dead fleas fall off :) You can also use the spray in your house, on the carpets and furniture. Good luck
My friends are all recommending this product:

I use permethrin for ticks. You can use it to make diy tick tubes!
While some sprays are highly effective, there are also a number of plants that will naturally repel fleas and ticks. Dependent upon your location, you may wish to review them for possible inclusion into your landscape. See "Hunker.com-plants that repel ticks". Planting these may solve your problem, without having to reapply spray deterrents. As mentioned sbove, rodents and deer can bring ticks and fleas into your yard. While some of the aforementioned plants repel animals, you may need to apply Deer Away or similar for problem animals. If your neighbors feed birds, they are attracting ticks. If you have a problem with feral animals, they may also be bringing ticks and fleas into your landscape.
My understanding is that Diatomaceous earth is supposed to work on ticks though I’m not sure about fleas, check the label.
