Thanks for the articles but these handed can’t be removed from cabinet. They are on faux doors and drawers that were put on before the countertop was put on. No access to screws so have to be painted in place. Suggestions on how to do it?
They are but won’t spray go everywhere? I mean should we use spray paint and completely cover the cabinet floor and use plastics tent? I’d rather use a brush or foam brush if we can get a good result. ideas?
Hi Kim, I do this for a ton of projects when I need to use heavy duty rustoleum spray paint but need for it to be very controlled!!!!.......SPRAY paint on a paper plate or into a plastic cup.... and dip a paint brush into the paint. Use the paint brush to paint your pulls. This is much more controlled! It will be a fast working time though because the spray paint dries faster. BUT IT DOES WORK GREAT!!!! You can buy some of those spray paints in a can but usually there are so many more rustoleum colors in the spray can, it is worth it to just get the metallic color you want in the spray can.
Before you do this though, I would recommend lightly sanding the pulls in place as best you can and sanding with steel wool all before you paint. It will adhere better. Also just make sure you cover your wood cabinets with plastic so when you are painting it doesn't go all over. I hope this helps!!
I use this trick on everything from spray adhesive glues to paints. GOOD LUCK!!

kim: maybe this will help

Oh! I think you could totally do that. ...especially since they really will not be used... so the paint should just be fine.
Two things: PRIME!
..and the other... treat them gently for a month or two -- to let the paint "cure"
I’m assuming they’re metal? Tape off all around them and use a spray paint made for metal.

Great!!! YAY hope it helps you with your project Kim!
Hi Kim,
I am wondering how the handles got on to the drawer fronts in the first place. If you can not see any backing screws, have they been glued on?
They were screwed on before the counter top was installed
I would recommend scuffing with steel wool, clean with denatured alcohol and a lint free cloth, then brush paint with RustOleum Metallics paint.
Be sure to use masking tape around the pulls before you use a brush or foam brush to paint. Clean up is so much easier.
Thanks. I certainly used tape!!
