Diatomaceous earth, it's safe & effective for spiders and all pests with an exoskeleton. It's still effective if it gets wet, just make sure it doesn't wash away.

Use diatamaceous earth sprinkled around to keep many insects away from your plants, it is non toxic to pets and children
