Upgrading home thermostat?
I am looking to upgrade the thermostat in my home from Honeywell Chronotherm T8090 A1056 to the Google Nest Learning thermostat. Is this something that can be doable? If so, how do I remove the plate which reveals the wires connections? One of the weird things about the current thermostat is that even if it is set to 75 degrees, the AC still cools off the house to 71. I don’t have that issue when the heat is on. I suspect the reason for the AC issue is due to the thermostat but could it be something else? Thank you.

That is definitely doable. As far as removing the cover to expose the wires, they normally just pull straight off.
Here is the installation manual. Should help with access for removing it.

Here is a compatibility checker for the Nest Thermostat

You will need to make sure the different colored wires you currently have will be compatible. Check out this website:

Hi Claud, you can certainly change over to the nest, and if you check the wiring take a photo of it before disconnecting the old, then rewiring the new should be as easy looking at the photo. Here's a video that should help you out,

For me, my thermostate is okay. But I need to replace the weather stripping around the edge of my HVAC unit because the emergency turn off switch keeps going off. :(
Thermostats are a fairly easy switch. Take a look:

When you purchase your replacement, make sure it's the one for the type you have. There are different versions based on the wiring.
As for the temperature, it could have to do with humidity levels. If you had the issue year round, I would think thermostat is off but since it's only in the summer perhaps you have high humidity and it's trying to pull the moisture out of the air. I'm not fully educated on how it works but when I had my unit replaced last year the technician explained in more detail than I can remember how the humidity level plays into the workings of the ac feature.

They are easy to swap out - just be sure to cut off the right breaker so you don't blow a fuse!
It is pretty easy to change out a thermostat. Normally the instructions that come with it are step by step.
