    Hi Ida,

Mix together: a half-cup Apple Cider Vinegar, one teaspoon Molasses, a quarter-cup Sugar, and one cup water. Pour mixture in container and hang indoors or outdoors. Good luck Ida.

What kind of flies? little gnats? Usually with flies that are flying in because people are leaving the door open too much, you can get sticky paper. It's gross but it does work. Gnats are a little different because eggs can come in on your fruit like bananas or if you pick fruit from the farm. For that, leave out a shallow cup of very sour beer. They love it and swarm around it. Put plastic wrap over it with a tiny hole. They will get trapped trying to get to the beer.

If you are looking to get rid of flies, you may want to make sure you have screens on all of your doors and windows. A fly swatter works well, hanging fly paper or even a natural spray.

Large plantings of Basil and lemon grass tend to repel flies. In your home, you could plant a countertop sized container. It's imperative to keep all food items in tightly closed containers, and clean stovetop/cookware immediately after cooking. Using your kitchen exhaust fan and a ceiling fan should keep odors outside and air in motion, which annoys flies.
