You really don't want it very shiny, as it may adversely affect the friction, when standing in the surface, leading to falls. This is why you should have more grout lines on a shower floor. Additionally, you'll note that glossy tile should not be used for shower floors.

If you think the floor may be slick (fall hazard), you can smear Dawn original over the surface, to lift residue from soaps and shampoo. Wait an hour, then scrub with a little warm water and microfiber cloth. Rinse well and dry completely.

Jeannette: embrace the non-shiny! ...you're safer! Do give it a good scrubbing with Dawn and call it good!

Hello. Most commonly shower bases are textured and have a duller finish. I am assuming this is fiberglass? I’m not sure you want it slick and slippery.

If you want a different approach, try scrubbing Bubbles. It lifts the dirt right out. Can't get any? Make a baking soda paste and then add vinegar. Squeaky clean. Good luck and stay safe!

  • Most shower floors have a non-slip coating on them. Sometimes they can get dirty and stained. I usually scrub that area with vinegar and baking soda, but not too hard. I don't want to remove the grip. If you do, by accident, I recommend getting a non slip footing for the base.

  • Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 solution of Dawn dish soap and vinegar. Spray it on the shower and let it work. If they are tougher stains, you may have to scrub with a plastic scrubbie!

Dawn dish soap and vinegar in a squirt bottle, I use 1/2 cup dawn and the rest vinegar (32 oz bottle), spritz it on, wait a bit, then with a dedicated Dollar Tree broom (white handle and blue bristles) clean away, rinse and repeat if needed.

Easy Off oven cleaner in the blue can. Spray, turn the exhaust fan on and close the door behind you. After an hour go back inside and use a toilet brush to give the shower a gentle scrub and then rinse.

Try Wet & Forget Shower. It is the best thing I've every used to get my shower floor clean. It's a non slip surface and was horrible until I found this stuff.

    Hello Jeanette,

It could be it needs Crud cutter on it, or it could be it has been cleaned so much the surface has worn away, and it needs re-finishing or replacing. Best wishes.

    Hello Jeanette,

It could be it is dull because it has a nonslip tile or finish to it.
