How do I take constructions staples out of a large wooden cable spool?

I am assuming they would be similar to removing fence staples.

Step 1

Hold a pair of multipurpose fencing pliers in one hand with the handles squeezed together. This action keeps the two jaws closed on the tool. Fencing pliers have a flat rough end on the jaws to grip objects firmly. One jaw has a square flat side for hammering nails and fencing staples. The other jaw has a large heavy hook to remove staples. This tool operates as a hammer, pliers and staple remover in one heavy-duty package to install, tighten and remove staples used in fencing or from a staple gun, such as is used in installing carpet or other construction projects.

Step 2

Press the hook end of the fencing pliers underneath the fencing staple center from the bottom. This may take some force against the wood if the staple is driven deep into the wood.

Step 3

Rotate the fencing pliers handle down to apply force on the wood with the square end of the pliers. As the handle pushes down against the wood, the staple pulls out of the wood. This is similar to the action of a claw hammer in removing nails.

Hello TR. I would use a large screwdriver to remove the staples. Once you get the screwdriver under the staple wiggle it back and forth to pry it up. And, of course, use safety goggles and gloves. Good luck TR. I hope you are healthy and well.

You can try pushing a flat screwdriver under the staple and then using the handle for leverage to pop the staple out.

Staple pullers are the most obvious tool out there for removing staples. They're used mostly for upholstery staples but work on just about any type of staple. With a strong Hammer and lever. That's the only way I know.

Use a hammer to get a flat blade screwdriver under the bridge part of the staple, rock the screwdriver back and forth to loosen the legs of the staple from the wood. Either pop it out or grab and pull with pliers. Wear safety glasses.

You may need to pry them out with a flathead screw driver and a plier.

TR: use a large, sturdy flathead screwdriver and a hammer. (Please wear safety goggles!)

I use a flat head screw driver to loosen then a pair of needle nose pliers or small bar to pull them out.
