Repurpose those empty frames just sitting around your home by creating fun lettered signs for your bathroom (or any room in your home)!

A little over a year ago, my huband and I gutted and remodeled our downstairs half bath. We ended up finding some plumbing and floor issues during demolotion, so when it came time to decorate I really had to get creative. The last and final touch was an odd wall beside a door leading to our basement. I wanted to fill it with something, but was in a rush to just be done with the project. So...I ended up just hanging to wood picture frames that I picked up at our local thrift store. The funny part was the black and white photo's that were original to the frame matched the space, so I just left them, in hopes of replacing them later.

Well, later ended up being over a year later! (Blush...blush) Of course when I finally decided what I wanted to put in those picture frames, I still didn't want to spend a lot of money. So I picked up a few inexpensive items and made my very own Modern Farmhouse Wall Art!

These items included poster board, letter stickers, and clear glue. (I got the glue just in case I had issues with the stickers not sticking, but I ended up not using it).

Remove the backing from your frame and clean the Glass on both Sides

To prepare my frame I simply took of the backing and set it aside. Then I removed the glass pane and cleaned it well with some glass cleaner and paper towel. Once clean, I cleared my work space.

Trace the paper insert onto the poster board and cut it out.

To get the exact measurements that I would need for my poster board to fit, I simply traced the picture insert that was in my frame and cut it out.

Apply your lettering onto the poster board

I found some cute farmhouse style wall art on Pottery Barn that were my inspiration for the wording. (COMB YOUR HAIR-WASH YOUR HANDS) This was a no fuss project-so I didn't worry about centering or measuring-I just eyeballed where I wanted the lettering and pressed each one into place.

Fit your posterboard into the frame and re-attach the backing. Hang!

Once the lettering was all attached I began to put the wall art together. First I placed the glass back into the frame. Then I laid the poster board face down onto the glass. And then laid the backing on top of that, and secured it into place. Now all that was left is to re-hang the frames!

The inspiration wall art was $129 each!! My wall art? Well, even with the glue that I didn't use, it was only $8.95 for both!!! This was definitely a super inexpensive and super easy way to create some modern farmhouse wall art for our half bath! You could definitely switch out the wording for something for your laundry room, pantry or even your family room!
