Privacy ?
Hello. I have a long oval window in my front door. I don't like how people can see inside. Any ideas on how to add some privacy? I've read I can use privacy film has anyone used that before does it work? Or the spray paint privacy paint ?

Privacy film works great!
You could use etching cream and a stencil.
Yes! Privacy films work great.
You can use frosted glass spray paint. If you want a more decorative look you can even use stencils. Something like this. This is not my image.
Privacy film is great and comes in all sorts of patterns. It is easy to put on and usually pretty easy to remove. Alternatively, you could use some frosted glass spray and but it is messier.
Hi Kara. I recommend using privacy film. You can purchase it at Wal Mart, Target and, of course, on Amazon. It runs about $10 a roll. Good luck Kara.

We bought some privacy film from Amazon last year. Wouldn't do that again. While privacy film does work very well during the day at night the process is reversed. That just means that people can see in while you can't see outside at night.
I would use spray paint and frost the glass. That would allow the light in but not inquiring minds.
The privacy film I purchased has thick and difficult to bend or cut. Resembled cheap black plastic from walmart. Watch videos on utube to understand how to apply this. These videos are what some people have learned the hard way and are very helpful.
Hello there,
I bought just what you are looking for from Amazon. They come in a number of designs. Look up Clings and Stained glass Clings. Best wishes.
Yes privacy films are fantastic and they have such a nice looking variety at Home Depot and Lowes. If you don't like any that you see, I am sure you can find more options on Amazon. It is a great looking cheap solution. If you still aren't satisfied with the privacy issue even after using a film, You should also be able to hang a blind up on the top of the door. Just use one that is cordless.
I agree with the privacy film, if you can't find any to suit you, I was thinking of hanging a patterned sheer over the door.. This would provide you with privacy. If you don't want to put holes in your wood, there are command strips to attach a plain small rod.
I've used the privacy film. Rabbitgoo brand is what I used. I have it on my entrance door, a bathroom window, and on the garage doors & windows at my mother-in-law's house. It's been up about 2 years, no issues. Very easy to install. Just make sure you get a static cling variety. They apply with water and you just pinch a corner to remove, no sticky residue left behind.
Here is a great post about how to create a private window: https://www.thriftydecorchick.com/2013/01/a-private-window.html
This is what I did. Love it! Keeps heat and prying eyes out

Good Bye Hot Sun
We tried window film. Be aware that is only keeps prying eyes out during the day. At night the effect is reversed making it easy to see inside.
Also not all windows films are created equal. Some are thick like cheap walmart plastic and that makes them very difficult to cuts and form into corners.
You could just frost the windows in question or try this idea:

I used the film on my windows, and its been up for 18 years. Amazon has a great selection, and I used some of the stained glass ones.
How about an artistic stain glass made to fit Opening.
Yes it sticks on like contact paper you could see through it only shadows that’s it sort of like a bathroom window
