Dimesions for water fountain?

It really depends on the pump you're using to power your fountain. We have a pond and over the years the splash has been larger or smaller depending on the trickle generated.

I found the above info for you and the size of the box to catch splash will need to be 2-3 times larger than the item you use for the fountain

Hi! Any water proof container works with a solar fountain/pump. I added a solar one to my concrete angel birdbath and it's lovely! Good luck and stay safe!

No way to know how far the fountain will splash. I have a small one and the splash depends on which tip I put on. Some squirt high, some just gurgle and only go one inch high. Set the fountain up and put paper down to see how far it splashes. Then measure the water spots distance from side to side to tell you how big of a container to catch all splashes.

I went to Home Depot, in their garden department they have many different kinds of fountains, and the material to build them, such as pumps, shells, etc. Go check it out.

Controlling the flow rate using a throttle valve will limit the diameter of the catch basin. A common water feature in our area are basalt columns with a hole drilled through them. These are set into a basin with river rocks at the base. The water bubbles out of the holes and splashes down into the basin.
