I can't find the right cabinet so I thought of building one. Is there an easy process to this?
Here's a link with lots of ideas for you:
One super simple method is to use small crates on a solid base, with them fastened together. I've never been totally happy with any of the shoe storage methods I have tried, and the current storage I am using is baskets under a bench. I have a boot tray there, also for wet shoes or boots. It's my favorite method so far. Good luck and stay safe!
Thanks for the idea

Just another idea I wanted to throw out to you....My friend just picked up a vintage jam cabinet on craigslist or facebook marketplace. It is perfect as a shoe cabinet. It might be fun to score something like that secondhand and save you the hassle of making one.
Here's some more suggestions:
I would build something simple that is similar to a bookcase. That's the style my shoe cabinets are and I love them. It's wide enough to hold 3 pairs and tall enough for shoes but not boots. I only have 1 pair of booties & hikers, they sit on the floor with the shoe part under the bottom shelf. My 3 pair of boots are on a boot holder. So if you are a boot or hiking person, consider making some higher for those. I think boots are still best on a boot stand.
Hi! I used something like this, got canvas bins and grouped the shoes according to category -- sandals, flats, heels, etc. (and put label on the outside of the cave.)

You can buy racks that fit on the back of a door, or shoe cabinets at places like Target or Walmart.

I would buy some of those shoe storage cubbies from the container store or even Walmart or Target has them and stack them.
