Update fake brick in front of house?
We've had this bay window surrounded with fake brick for about 38 years. It's time for a change. We recently painted the shutters blue. Any suggestions please? Thank you.

They're doing some pretty cool things with faux shingles these days. I love the cedar looks ones. You may be able to just go right over the top of your current siding.
Bert: a coat of exterior paint and you're good to go! (Maybe grey or grey-blue because of your shutters)

Hardie cement board comes in a variety of styles. If you prefer a simpler route, the fake stone could be painted a more vivid color, such as red
Perhaps you can take it down and put up new wood or vinyl siding. Check out this helpful tutorial: https://www.addicted2decorating.com/figuring-out-my-stonesiding-exterior-what-do-i-do-with-all-of-that-stone.html
I would try a white wash to brighten it!
What about a lime wash?
Maybe simply paint it white or same color as the rest of your exterior. You'll have the texture but not the dreary beige. If you like that, you're done, if not, you can try some of the other recommendations. Best of luck!
I actually love that window area Bertda I would just power wash the brick and get it nice and clean.
Paint it white
Paint it light gray!
I agree with Janice. It would be cheapest and easiest just to paint the fake block the same colors as the rest of the home. That would make in blend in more.
You raised bed planters under that large window would look nice and you could add a lot of color depending on what plants you use.
Just my personal opinion but I have always thought the burgandy looks so good on a gray house with black trim.
It would look lovely in a light gray....
Hi Bert, Paint may be the way to change the look of the fake brick. Good luck How do you update old brick exterior?
Give your brick a makeover with paint or whitewashing
One fast and inexpensive option is to paint the bricks in a bright, eye-catching color, although this can be a pricey project. The national average to paint a brick home is $7,000, in part because the exterior needs to be primed first.Aug 23, 2018

White wash the stone if you want to change it. I think it's lovely as is but I would change the shingles to copper over the window.
Too much work to remove, make repairs, and replace. Paint is the best and cheapest solution. You can even do a faux brick finish instead of one color
I think a sky or baby blue would be beautiful...It would enhance your shutters and roof shingles...Natures colors are always best....
Bert.
This is JMO. I believe there are "warm" people and there are "cool" people. The cool people always want to paint everything white and us warm people want to keep all the wood and brick natural.
For me that beige fake brick falls in the warm category. From the picture your house appears to be cool. I think if you paint it some shade of gray that you will find that it blends in better.
Now about those shutters. Shutters are supposed to look like they could actually close over the window. Even if theyre fake. Nice blue though.
You can use this online program to play with colors

I don't think you should change it. Maybe find another project to take your mind off it. Painting the shutters is a nice touch! The faux brick/slate looks nice and it adds character. I just googled some images of slate veneer and it was gold, green, blue and grey colors. That might be expensive though to have real slate veneer installed-I have no idea. I guess if you paint it though those are some color suggestions.
