These posts may need to be very well secured into your deck floor using mutiple bolts. Given your railing, they'd most likely need installed at the inside corners.
I've seen shade sails caught by the wind that could place a great amount of force on a post, but this depends upon wind gusts in your area, and whether or not you plan to take them down when you're not using the deck.
Go with brackets, I think they are called hurricane ties. You can find them in the same section where lumber is sold. There are a multitude of types so you will have to examine them to see which will work best for your structure.
The posts would need to be bolted to the perimeter deck framing under the decking. Wherever you want to place the posts cut an opening same size as the posts in the decking. Notch out the posts to straddle the deck framing. Drill holes thru the posts and framing. Use long nuts a bolts to secure the posts. Your railing posts should also be attached in the same way. Look under the deck and use them as an example.
Hi. Without seeing a detail drawing of the deck/railing you want to install the posts, all i can advise is the bottom of the post should be sitting over a load bearing member and should be attached via a metal bracket and or bolted to existing structure. Since the posts are going to be supporting a screen or sail, they will also have to be supported ss they will not fall. Please provide a bit more detail so we can help.
You would be better off digging a hole 18" deep and placing each pole into it and back filling with "Postcrete". Water and wait till set, it wont take long.

Yes, some very clever ideas for sure, not to mention the ability to remove and put up when needed.
Brackets will for sure help in this project
Hello Michelle,
You would be better off digging a hole 18" deep and placing each pole into it and back filling with "Postcrete". Water and wait till set, it wont take long.
Place posts in a planter filled with cement and then place those in the corners of the deck. Then attach the ropes to the top of the posts with hooks.
Hi Michelle, these brackets are designed to add a privacy wall, hope they help you
