I don’t want to paint my oak cabinets. What color can I use on walls to update the look of my kitchen?
What colors do you like? I have one accent walll, a very deep rust color
Are your cabinets light oak? or dark?
I recently updated my old kitchen walls with a warm ivory color since we are getting ready to sell. A light gray would have been an alternative. I've had it different colors over the years, but, my favorites have all been warmer colors that looked nice with the oak. Good luck and stay safe!
Go with what colors you like not what other people like. What shade are your cabinets?
Soft greens, soft oranges greys, creams will all help to neutralize strong yellow or orange tones in oak.
If reselling, go neutral, to appeal to the most buyers.
Note that your lighting will impact the appearance of your selected paint color, so do a test area before painting the entire room. Remember to maintain a color flow from one room to the next.
I would paint them a bright white
Hi Barb: You could use a light tan, or maybe a bright white. Here's a site that may be of some help:
There are some good ideas for wall colors with oak cabinets here: https://www.loveremodeled.com/wall-colors-for-honey-oak-cabinets/
I think it’s going to depend on colors you like as well as how much natural light there is in the room. Pop by a paint store and grab a bunch of swatches, tape them up and look at them at different times of day. That should help you narrow it down.
