Recycle Toilet Paper Rolls Into Decor
Check out this cute DIY I made using jute, glue and a succulent. Best of all, these materials can all be found at the Dollar store making this a budget friendly DIY.
I love to do trays of decor for the holidays so I made this to fill out the trays. Finding small things for them can be a challenge but these are perfect and economical.
What you will need:
Jute
Succulents
Glue gun and sticks
Scissors
To start with, put a row of clue around the top edge of your toilet paper roll and start to wrap the jute twine around it.
Continue to wrap the jute around and around the toilet roll. Check out my Youtube video for a quick tip on how to get it so straight. You need to make sure the twine doesn't criss cross over itself or overlap.
Once you get to the top, add a little bit more glue to secure it.
If you want to make the roll shorter, just cut slots all the way around and then trim it horizontally.
If there are any hairs from the twine sticking out, just trim is carefully so it looks nice and neat.
Next, you want to take apart your succulent and take out the styrofoam. Take your roll and push down on it to make an indentation so you can see where to cut around it.
Like this.
Trim around the styrofoam so it can fit inside the roll.
Push the styrofoam inside the toilet paper roll so it is nice and snug. Make sure it is pushed down enough so that you can't see it.
Pop your succulent back into the styrofoam.
All done!
Make several in different sizes to add to your fall decor.
Here are a few ways I used mine. It's a super cute holiday DIY for just $7!
