Turning dismantled metal shed into carport
Has anyone used a disassembled metal shed roof to build a "carport" / cover? If so, any ideas... I can take pics to show the front porch & driveway beside of it. Not sure how much info I can put here. Thanks
My husband has used exactly that in the past. He took it all apart and then built a new frame, attaching the old metal roof.
Thanks for answering my question.
Hi! I don't see why you can't frame a carport at the right height and size and recycle those materials. I would use screws that will hold up for exterior use. Good luck and stay safe!

You can add all the info, it will help us answer your question.
If you are building a new structure or adding on to an existing one, you may need a building permit. Check with the town/city you live in.
Repairing existing structure parts usually don't require a permit. Adding to size or shape does. Adding NEW structure does.
Check video's online for building a carport there are tons of ideas. If it is totally new Ann is correct check to see if you need a permit before you start your project.
Hi Teresa, I am not sure how much metal you have but I hope this helps you out

Here are some ideas https://extremehowto.com/build-an-attached-carport/
Hello Teresa,
What ever you intend doing, you will need to put up a framework, but before that, You may well have to get Permission to erect something next to or adjoining your home. You may need Planning or Building Permission and Building Control input from the Local Authority before going ahead. Best wishes
If the newly created car port is permanently attached to the house, the project will be categorized as an extension, and will require building permits and most possibly inspections as well in order to be signed off as completed.
If the car port is not permanently attached to your house, then the project will not require building permits or inspections.
