I have always been drawn to the vintage seventies style furniture. Probably because my parents had that same style when I was little and it reminds me of those days gone by.

I embrace all the details and that chunky hardware.

The best thing about these is they paint up so well.

After giving a good cleaning with some Krud Kutter and a scuff sanding I got to painting.

I used Sherwin Williams Enamel & Trim paint in Satin in the color Blue Peacock. With a brush I applied the paint and once it was fully dry I would do another coat. It took a couple coats for full coverage. This paint has a built in top coat as well.

Now I wanted those details to be accentuated so I went back and painted them white.

I took some white paint and took a small brush with hardly any paint on it (wipe the excess into a paper towel) and brushed over the details to really make them pop. This technique is called dry brushing.

You can really see the difference in this picture and how much more pronounced those details are.

I continued this on all the details of the piece.
