Help!!!! Azalea Plant drying out...?

Azaleas generally do not like extreme heat and Dallas is known for heat in the summer. My guess is the roots did not have enough time to get established before the heat moved in. You could try cutting them back and giving them lots of water, but I'm not sure it will work.

Looks very dry and crispy. I don't know if theres any saving it - if you snap a stem is it green or brown and dry?

Hello. It looks like it did not accept transplant well. I would consider bringing it back to Costco for a refund.

Over three months has passed since the purchase of the plant and during this time the plant has been already 'planted' in the ground.

It is highly unlikey that you would be able to obtain a refund if you were to dig it out and lug it back to the store.

It needed Rain or rainwater ! Cut off some of the branches a bit to see if there is any green inside, if so it is still alive - just. If it is brown and breaks easily, it is probably dead!

If you suspect the latter, dig it up and plunge it into a bucket of water and put in a shady place. to see if it will recover. You could add a drop of plant food into the water too. Best wishes.

I wonder if it was an ornamental (florist) azalea? Typically, azaleas like humidity and water. They grew great for me in the Willamette Valley. I would not try them here in the high desert, however. It is too hot here.

Is it in full sun? It might be too much for it, or it needed more watering. I would see if it grows back next year, but continue to water it. It looks pretty crispy.

Plant them in dense shade and they won't bloom. A good location is where they receive either dappled sun all day or sun in the morning and light shade in the afternoon. Good places might include spots under trees, or along the north side of your house.

Hi Percy, can you prune it back gently? Do this to see if there are any living branches left, they will be green on the inside. Hope this helps, then fertilize it and ensure it gets enough water, hopefully you can revive it!

Costco will usually take dead plants back, that is one option.

I dont think you can do anything in that stage ... I would return back to the store. they need lots and lots of water when they are planted first
