How do i automate a retractable awning?
Has anyone used a electric drill to roll up awning?? It is expensive to convert from manual to electric rollup..

It would have to be an electric drill and not battery. Problem may rise when to stop it since there are no relays or sensors for automatic stop.

That was a great post,,thanks
I agree with William, it is possible but not with a battery operated drilled. It will run down to quick.

Hi Dennis, hope this helps you out

I don't know how a drill would work for stopping at the end, could wind it too tight
This should help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EqyegX8Dgo

I bought the motorize Sunsetter awning at my last house. You could use a drill to attach to your closing rod, but it may be too awkward.
I d like to fabricate my own closing rod about 2 ft long with a hook at one end and shaped end for a secure fit in a 1/2 in electric drill..
So maybe 3/8 in rod and put a bend in it to make a hook..??
