Hello! Here’s a quick before and after! Can I have ideas on how to glam up this space? It’s going to be my office/seldom used guest room.

You can paint your heat register a different color. Plants always help. I have no idea how big your space is or what you already have. Use a bright curtain. I have used polyester type shower curtains in a colorful pattern which are cheaper than curtains, usually. Wall art in your style, pretty much what ever you imagine. Good luck and best wishes.

Are you keeping the navy? Brass or gold accents look gorgeous with that color!

Looks like you have a great room to work with. You did not mention the dimensions. since this will double as a guest room the first thing is I would plan where the bed will go and what size,(if budget allows consider a Murphy bed) then your work area. Keep in mind where your heat register is and existing electric outlets. The closet can be divided with one half for bedding and hanging clothes and the other for office supplies. Pick a gender neutral pattern for the bed covering and window. Love the little table that is there and it can be used as a bedside lamp table. Glam the room with an area rug and accessoris. Good luck, have fun.

I have two options for a guest bed- a twin mattress with a frame or a futon that looks like a couch when it’s not pulled out. I’m not sure which I’d rather go with. I like the idea of the bed because it’s such a blank canvas but it always looks like a bed. The couch is nice because it’s double duty as a couch and a bed, but it’s a weird brown color, so I’d have to find a slip cover for it. The heating and AC is in the ceiling, so I’m not worried about the that. The tables are gorgeous! A gift from my mother in law

A built in couch/day bed could hide the register and still allow heat to escape and not be a fire risk etc. That would hide the problem, give you some decent seating and a nice bed for guests.

So the register doesn’t even work! Lol. When the previous owners added the central AC, they never removed them. I’ve removed them in other rooms, but I’m being lazy in this one lol

I agree a couch might be a nice addition to the room. You can use the couch while using the room as an office -- you could add a pretty throw and pillows, etc. When you have guests, you can pull the bed out. Maybe a pretty storage unit or chest could hide the register?

i have a couch/futon thing that I could put in there, or a twin bed on a frame. Whichever one I was planning on having it against the blue wall. I’m not sure which I want to use!

You will want some sort of seating, and I have found that corner cases work well and you can utilize that awkward corner space at the same time, a clock would be a must for obvious reasons, a desk would be a must if this is your office.

Do you want your office to be sparse, reflect your personality or what look are you going for?

  • What a great space. I would add touched of gold with wood and bright, lush fabrics. I know you said it would be an office space, but something like this (just the elements) would be lovely and you already have a gold mirror in there. glam navy blue room

I would ditch the mismatched window treatments and invest in some white honeycomb blinds or some roman shades. www.brylanehomes.com has some reasonable ones.
