I needed a small shelves for some books and plants. I also wanted some table top near my armchair. So... there it is, simple ladder shelf combined with a coffee table.

I've used old wood for legs and some spruce wood for the shelves. The latter was actually a mistake of me - spruce is very soft and not suitable for shelves IMO. Anyway, I've covered it with acrylic lackquer and it's fine... for now :)

It's 125 cm heigh and 55 cm wide.

Final cost was quite low and I think it's around $15

Sketch first

It all started with a sketch. I've determined height of every shelf as well its depth

Table top

Boards used for table top was holded by big bar clamps while joining them. Unfortunately, that didn't help much. It turned out, that the wood was still humid and now I have gaps between every board ;)

After joining all parts - it's ready

No glue was used for joining, just wood screws.

White legs goes well with plain wood IMO. Front ones are about 16.5 degrees from vertical

With some books and peace lilies

More books :)

I love the combination end table book / trinket shelf usage. Brilliant.

This is lovely, and looks high end. The screw heads give it a bit of industrial look and this design could also be used as a desk for either child or adult. Thank you for sharing your idea and design.
