If it's upholstered, there should be a tag under the seat or attached beneath that section with codes related to specific cleaning methods.
it is fabric
Hello could you possibly post a photograph to better see your chair situation and area of concern? Knowing if your chair is wood, plastic or fabric might give clues to be able to offer the proper advice.
Having a visual might be helpful to be able to offer the best guidance .....to a help find the best cleaning suggestions or potential solution for your problem.
It depends on how it is covered. If it's vinyl, you should be able to clean it with mild soap and water. If it's fabric, you can use a steam cleaner.
Hope this helps you clean your swivel chair. Showing results for how to clean a swivel chair

The very best way to clean a plastic office chair is to use a mixture of dish soap and water. If the chair is very dirty, try mixing a few drops more of soap into the cleaning mixture. Gently wipe out stains and rinse with a damp cloth until clean.

Hi! A fabric upholstered chair can usually be cleaned with an upholstery attachment on a rug steam cleaner. If you can't get your hands on one, you could use a cleaner safe for your fabric and a microfiber cloth. Often if something just needs spot cleaning, I use a wrung out microfiber cloth to clean up. Good luck and stay safe!

Thank you for the picture, that is a big help.
You could steam clean it if you have one, or you could get an upholstery cleaner from the store or automotive center designed for cleaning fabric. After it is cleaned I would spray it with Scotch Gard Protector.
If it is leather you can use a leather cleaner. For fabric you can steam cleaner or just used soap and water and Towel dry or put it outside in the sun to dry.

What material is it? Faux leather, fabric, etc.? For the bottom of it with the swivel and wheels I would use Lysol wipes to wipe it down really well.
Hello Sylvia,
Steam clean. You can hire a machine from a good DIY store. Best wishes
What is the chair made from
Is it wood or metal? Is their gunk on it that needs to be scrubbed off? I would use an abrasive like comet or bar keepers friend and rub it down with that. Then follow up with a soapy water cleaning, and towel dry.
Here's a post that might help - https://www.jan-pro.ca/blog/how-to-clean-a-fabric-office-chair/#:~:text=The%20very%20best%20way%20to,a%20damp%20cloth%20until%20clean.
If you have metal or wood on the chair then you should not use anything abrasive. If you mix warm water and a small amount of Tide powdered (not liquid) detergent it will clean wood, metal, fabric etc and do a great job.
Folks, if you read through the entire thread first, you will see that Sylvia has since posted a picture of the chair she referred to in her question.
It is upholstered with fabric.
