what type of paint should I use to paint my interior doors?
Are they wood or fiberglass?
I guess wood, they're the standard kind that come in new homes. I want to repaint them white again and want to know what kind of paint I should use.
Semi-gloss enamel is very durable and wipeable.
Hello. In my home we have used latex white paint for many of our doors, the ones that are not stained and polyed.

Interior doors can use any latex. Enamel is so messy and takes forever to dry. Most paints today are durable for washing. The flat finish takes the least amount of abuse so to with satin or eggshell finish.
I have painted doors with regular latex paint, and door and trim paint. If you aren't sure what the paint used before was, lightly sand to remove any gloss and then apply a primer like Kilz. It will give you better adhesion and the look you want. I personally don't like the gloss of enamel paints. I like the look of the door matching the walls on the inside of the room and then the matching finish on the outside of all the doors. Surprisingly, for me, in the new house we purchased, all the doors are painted deep brown with white trim, and I love it! Good luck and stay safe!
Any good water-base inteior paint will work well. I suggest one labeled as "satin or eggshell" for doors. Paints labeld "flat" show scuffs and marks much more prominently than the ones I recommended.
I appreciate all your suggestions.
Thank you very much!!
I have used normal "wall" paint, usually Behr primer & paint in one. Recently, I started using RustOleum Enamel paint in white for all my trim and doors at our farmhouse. I don't foresee me wanting to change them from white and this paint is so durable that I shouldn't have to re paint.
I'd start with a primer and then a semi gloss enamel.
we use semi-gloss instead of flat, it gives it more shine and beauty
I use semi gloss paint
There is good information here:
I usually pant them with a semi-gloss latex! Have fun! Good luck!
I only use oil based for durability.
Hi Frances: Doors take a lot of use and abuse, so when painting them, choose a durable paint finish that has a semigloss or gloss sheen. Semigloss or gloss makes cleaning easier and holds up to frequent cleaning. You need to lay down at least two topcoats to get a uniform appearance.

You're welcome :) That's what we're here for! :) Good luck with your project.
Gloss or Satin finish are best because they will put up with more and finish will last longer.
