On one of my well worn purses, I wrapped 1/2" wide ribbon tightly around the handles and glued all ends with E600. You could also use some type of cording.
Hi Joanna, here's a great video that may help - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Om3jxr6m6c
You have not supplied an image, so we can answer.
Click on the very small purse image and open in a new tab and you'll see that she did include a pic.
A picture would be helpful to see what you are starting with, here is a YouTube video that will hopefully help you:
AHA, here's the picture of the mystery purse:
Hi Redcatect- If nothing else works, I like the idea of the video, on the before an after picture shown above.
You can replace the handles very easily!
Hi Rosalie- i wish they were easily replaced. I bought the bag at a thrift store for $5.00 It is in brand new condition on the inside and outside. The handles were frayed when I purchased it. I tried to get in touch with Tignanello, there is a help box, when I try sending, it doesn't send. I don;t think they'd be able to do much for me, since I purchased the bag in this condition, Any ideas??
Do you have a picture of the handles?
Thank you Janice for sharing this information, for those who don´t see the purse.
You could make new ones from various materials, but an easier option is to buy new ones. They are often available at fabric/craft stores.
Just buy new handles and replace.
Hi! I don't think they would be hard to find a replacement for. They look like traditional style handles. Unless it is a very expensive purse, I would just replace them. Good luck and stay safe!
Hello in the past I have found replacement handles on thrift store bags, something you might wish to consider.
Can you post a photo of the handles to see what materials are degraded or frayed. I am intrigued and challenged by your situation....
The tiny photo attached above does not appear to show ANY damage that I can see....
i have used epoxy putty on wood, cut up a thin vintage leather glove to repair thin leather piping and use craft acrylic on colored coach and lancel edges and on vintage gucci. I have removed a gold monogram from a longchamp bag and repainted the pebbled leather.
More info eith a visual might give more ideas...
Hi Joanna: Which exact purse are you speaking about? You can buy new purse handles, and if we had a picture, we could help you find one. Thanks
Those pictures! Sometimes they hide on us. Try reposting please.
Hi there Joanna. I replaced the handles on an old purse. I cut off the old ones. Then I cut up an old leather belt and stapled the pieces inside the bag instead. I was happy with results.
We don't see a photo of the purse you are talking about but you can buy handles at the craft stores to replace on purses and other bags if you send us a photo of the ones you like we may could help you more
Hi Cheryl: The picture of the purse appears in the box where I should have written more . "If i send you a photo of the ones I like you can help me better??" I'm not sure what you mean ?
Hi Joanna, it looks like there are nice eyelets on that purse, so you could cut the handles off and replace them, here are a few ideas for you to check out, hope they help
Sorry about that, hope this helps
I don't see a picture.
I'm sorry, but I have been told that a small picture does appear. The sad part is that I DON'T know where I got the original picture from.
