If you’re like me and you’ve never heard of oversized outlet covers until now, let me tell you why you need them in your life.

It might be a small change, but they make such a BIG difference.

START WITH A YUCKY OUTLET:

Of course you could sand the raised paint down, use spackling to smooth any dips, then probably sand again. But you’ll have to then primer over the spackling, then paint one, possibly two, coats of paint over the primer.

No thanks, I’m lazy and the majority of switches and outlets in our house look like this. Which ultimately adds up to a LOT of time spent fixing tiny details.

REMOVE THE EXISTING COVER:

All you need for this is a flat head screwdriver.

ATTACH YOUR OVERSIZED OUTLET COVER:

The oversized cover, or switch plate, is just enough to cover the yucky paint from previous owners and renters without looking crazy on the walls.

To be honest, once they’re on the walls I don’t even notice the size difference. I mean, how much time do you REALLY spend analyzing the size of your outlet covers!?

For your convenience, I have some shoppable links in my blog on these oversized covers.

Oversized outlet covers will also fix other problems too.

Like if the builders cut the outlet holes too big when installing the outlet, or existing covers that don’t sit flush against the wall.

& WAAAA-LAHH:

Now you might ask why I didn't fix the other miscellaneous scratches from where a previous occupants dog also marked up the wall.

The honest answer to that is... I'm in a hurry.

This is in my nursery for baby #2 and I'm getting way close to his arrival. So it will happen eventually, just not right now.
