Kid Craft Table
Making a Pottery Barn styled kid craft table on a budget.
We needed a kid craft table because our coffee table was being over run with toys etc. I went on the hunt but the ones I liked were out of my price range. So I decided to make one.
First step was to cut the wood to desired size. I used pine wood for this project.
Cuts were as follows:
Table top (pine slab): 32 X 22.5"
Legs: 2X2@ 22 1/4"
End Aprons: 1X3@17 1/2"
Side Aprons: 1X3@27"
Next step is to make your pocket holes. I used a Kreg Jig.
Started off by building the bottom part by attaching the legs to the end and side aprons. Using the the drill to attach screws in the pocket holes.
Once the bottom is assembled, attach the table top also using the pocket holes and screws to attach to the bottom.
Fill in holes with wood filler. I did not have this on hand and instead used spackling paste but wood filler is your optimal choice.
Sanded with 80 grit and cleaned the residue.
The next step was to paint. Applied two coats of white furniture paint I had on hand and sanded with 120 grit paper in between coats.
The final product was exactly the look I was going for. I was able to find some pink Chiavari chairs to finish out the look and happy with the way it turned out
